Kevin Chan
SENIOR STRATEGIC ASSET MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT
Kevin brings more than 15 years of experience across consulting and client-side roles, with the last decade focused on strategic asset management across central and local government organisations in New Zealand and Australia. He is a Certified Asset Management Professional with extensive experience developing asset management frameworks, plans, maturity assessments and decision-support tools across infrastructure, buildings, transport and environmental asset portfolios.
Most recently, Kevin was the National Asset Manager at the Ministry for Primary Industries, where he led the development of the organisation's Asset Management Policy, inaugural Strategic Asset Management Plan, and asset value framework, helping prepare the organisation for a significant capital investment programme.
Kevin is known for his ability to translate complex asset management concepts into practical solutions that support better decision-making. Having worked closely with senior leaders, technical specialists and operational teams throughout his career, he brings a collaborative and outcomes-focused approach to helping clients get the most value from their assets.
His appointment represents another important step in the growth of our Strategic Asset Management capability. As we continue to build this newly established function, Kevin's expertise will help broaden our reach in this area, strengthen our ability to support clients with long-term strategic asset challenges, and position us well for future opportunities arising from local government reform and potential council amalgamation activity. Expanding this capability also helps diversify our service offering, providing a more stable work stream that is less susceptible to the peaks and troughs experienced in some other areas of the business.
Kevin has a Bachelor of Resource & Environmental Planning (Hons), GIS specialisation from Massey University, and Postgraduate Diploma in Science (GIS) from University of Auckland.
Outside of work, Kevin has a keen interest in the application of emerging technologies to asset management and is currently pursuing a self-directed project exploring how AI tools can enhance asset management workflows and decision-making
