Senior Landscape Architect – Wellington or Christchurch - Christchurch

The diversity and complexity of our landscape architecture workload is steadily increasing which means we now seek an enthusiastic, committed and technically skilled person to fill the role of Senior Landscape Architect.

The role could be located in our Christchurch or Wellington office. The role will report to the Group Manager and will work very closely with the Landscape Architecture Team Leader and wider team.

Key Responsibilities

In the Senior Landscape Architect role, you will be a key enabler in the Landscape Architecture Team’s technical delivery with a range of functions, including:

  • Providing landscape architecture (and urban design) services for a range of projects across New Zealand, including:
    • 1-200+ lot masterplans;
    • Large scale highway urban and landscape design projects such as the NZTA Innovating Streets Programme;
    • LVIA’s for energy and electricity projects, transport and residential projects;
    • Campus and school landscape masterplans; and
    • stream and wetland restoration projects.
  • Working with the Landscape Architecture Team Leader and Group Manager on business development.
  • Working with local managers in varying disciplines.
  • Fostering relationships with prospective and existing clients.
  • Providing mentoring and coaching others within the team.
  • Enhancing the brand and reputation of the company.

Skills, Experience and Attributes Required for This Role

  • 10+ years of professional experience and a well-grounded knowledge of landscape architecture consulting (ideally in New Zealand).
  • A mix of experience in landscape and visual impact assessment, landscape design and master-planning.
  • Experience in urban, public realm and large scale infrastructure projects.
  • Experience delivering projects from master-planning to construction.
  • Exceptional relationship building and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop new business and nurture existing clients.
  • The ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams, with excellent presentation and communication skills, and an ability to effectively and concisely communicate complex information.
  • Skilled hand sketching and graphic abilities.
  • Competency in Vectorworks, AutoCad, SketchUp, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite or other 3d modelling tools.
  • A degree in landscape architecture and current NZILA registration (or overseas equivalent).
  • Job pricing and proposal preparation.
  • Management of multiple project workstreams, budgets and programmes.
  • Ideally, local authority or Environment Court hearing experience.
